There are many fun activities for all ages, no matter how big or small your family is. We have something for everyone, whether it’s spring, summer, winter, or fall, indoors or out, weekend family vacation, or a quick midweek getaway.
Outdoor Family Activities
Outdoors is a wonderful place for families to gather, weather permitting. Fresh air can be invigorating, energizing, or even bonding between siblings, parents, or even cousins.
Fun Outdoor Family Activities w/ Kids:
Let’s begin with outdoor activities right in your backyard.
Hide and Seek: It all depends on how big your backyard is. This allows your children to explore and run around in safety within your home. Combining the outdoors with your home makes this game more interesting and challenging. You may need to establish guidelines and rules depending on your children’s ages so that nobody gets hurt or lost during the game.
You can create a rock spot playground. You can make your sandbox play area. Don’t worry if your little ones can track sand into the house. Gravel is also an option. Simply take a 5×5 foot area and tie it off with rocks or stones. Next, place gravel (which can be bought at your local store) in the area between the rocks. Pea gravel is the best gravel. This will create a play area that looks like sandboxes but doesn’t have all the hassles of sand. You can also add wooden planks to the border stones to make it more fun for your child if they are playing with toys that have wheels or figurines.
Spinning swingset: This is also known as the Tarzan swingset. It requires some skill, but it can be done depending on where you live. You will need a rope to link two large trees. The rope should be tied on both ends with a secure knot. You can either buy a spinning swing that you can attach to your rope or make your own using kid-friendly handlebar grips. This activity is best for children aged 12-13 years.

Family-friendly Card Games
Apples to Apples: Your family should play Apples to Apples. This game is extremely popular and won party game of the year awards in 1999 by Games Magazine. It’s a great game to play with friends or family. Each player must play their Red Apple cards. Each card has a noun. These cards can be played and spoken aloud to one another in response to the Green Apple Card. The card has an adjective or description. The winner is determined by the active player who chooses their favorite Green Apple Card.
Uno: Did you know that the classic card game that’s been entertaining families in their living room since 1971 was invented? Uno is a fun family game that is suitable for all ages. It is a great game for both parents and children. This family-friendly card game is easy to learn.
